Show Notes

James Toback. What more can be said about him? Since the Harvey Weinstein debacle, the flood gates have opened in Hollywood. More and more people are coming out with their stories about abuse at the hands of the powerful. Now, this isn't big news, as people in the know have been talking about what's happened to them. Second and third hand stories, stories about the casting couch, and others like Roman Polanski that are "out there" preying on people. But the news really never reported this stuff. In fact, if you watch the news now, just a few weeks after Harvey Weinstein, it's mostly died down. There are still reports coming out about actors (Danny Masterson), agents, and more producers. But the problems are still there. Not everyone is taking it seriously, not everyone cares about what's happening, and certainly not everyone believes it. Which brings us to James Toback. James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, has been talking about James Toback for a long time. James Toback is accused of sexually harassing 38 women... oh, wait - here is the headline from the Los Angeles Times 200 more women share their James Toback stories after 38 accuse director of sexual harassment. Yup. At least 200 more women since the initial 38, have come forward to talk about James Toback. Yet he categorically denies everything. He hasn't apologized, in fact, he's done quite the oppostie, telling reporters and anyone that will listen, that everyone is full of shit and a bunch of liars. Except for one thing, James Gunn. Who has first hand experience with this piece of human garbage. James Toback tried his bullshit on James Gunn's own sister. Not once. Twice. Toback has also done it to close personal friends of Gunn's. So, is James Gunn a liar? What does he have to gain in all of this? Other than telling the truth? There are times, when doing the compelled #podcast, that we get disgusted. To the point of angry temper tantrums. Yet, we hold our anger in, because it's just not going to get us anywhere. The best we can do, for now, is to bring awareness to everyone that these predators are out there. It's not just predators like Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, and James Toback. It's also not just Hollywood. This exists everywhere. Those who are in control will try to do what they can to use that power over people that they feel are weaker than them. I know, I've seen it first hand at every company I have every worked for. It has even happened at the company that I currently worked for. You know what happened? NOTHING. Absolutely nothing has happened. Because those who know feel like it's not their problem to get involved and some have merely forgotten because they have their own problems. Is it right? No. When confronted with doing the right thing because it's tough or not doing anything because it's easy, most will choose easy. So, all these women coming out about James Toback? They're liars? Doubt it. There are always going those that are trying to take advantage of the situation. But 238 women in this case have come out against Toback, have told their stories and yet the mainstream press seems to only care about ratings and the attitude of "what have you done for me lately", instead of beating this into the ground until there's a real change. #MeToo #TellTheTruth #Compelled #RoseArmy
